西方漫画常以zzz表示画中人物在睡觉。有人说z是出于doze（打瞌睡）、snooze（小睡） 二字，也有人说z是模拟鼾声。无论如何，俚语常以zizz指「睡觉」，作名词、动词都可以， 例如：
(1) He felt refreshed after a good zizz.（他好好睡了一觉之后，精神抖擞）
(2) He left while I was zizzing.（他在我睡觉的时候离开了）
To catch（或get/make）some/a few z's就是指「睡觉」
例如：
I went to bed to make some z's as soon as I got home（我一回到家里，就上床睡觉了）。
你要去睡一会，也可以说：I'm giving it some zeds。Zed是字母z的拼法
